Alex Schroeder developed the wiki software Oddmuse, which is derived from UserMod. He founded first Emacs Wiki and then Community Wiki.

In his About page on Emacs Wiki he writes: "I actually think that political issues are more important than writing software or talking about software. Generally speaking I think political issues involving human rights are the most important ones."
