The idea of OneBigSoup was apparently contributed by [[Mattis Manzel]] and picked up by [[Lion Kimbro]]. It is an offshoot of [[InterWiki]].

OneBigSoup starts from the idea of [[OneBigWiki]], which means connecting all wikis together, and takes it a step further to connecting together all communications software. The [http://communitywiki.org/en/OneBigSoup OneBigSoup] page on [[CommunityWiki]] explains:

:On CommunityWiki, we no longer look at [[InterWiki]] as the ultimate in networking wiki. Rather, we believe in networking WikiEngines with all [[SocialSoftware]]. When all communications software (see SocialSoftware) are integrated, we call the resulting mix: “OneBigSoup.”
