A WikiBadge is said to be a form of [[WikiTag]] that provides additional context, while the [[WikiTag]] is said to be a temporary WikiBadge. However, the seems to be little real difference between the terms, since [[DeleteMe]] which is clearly temporary and provides no additional context, is said to be a WikiBadge. ==WikiBadge according to WikiWikiWeb== The [[WikiWikiWeb]] page on [http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?WikiBadge WikiBadge] includes the following entries: :Closely related in meaning to [[WikiTag]], a WikiBadge provides additional context for the text in which it appears. That is, a badge says or suggests something about the current page or the text around it. :Apart from categories and topics, the badge that has been used the most on Wiki is [[DeleteMe]]. The number of places in which this particular instruction has been ignored by the rest of Wiki, sometimes for years, is a warning not to use badges as an alternative to clear expression using [[PlainEnglish]]. :Almost all proposed WikiBadges apart from categories have been rejected by the Wiki community at large. :In fact, they haven't even got as far as being rejected, they haven't even been tried. It can be observed that most frequently used WikiBadges are in fact [[WikiTag]]s, like [[DeleteMe]]. The only common WikiBadge that is not a WikiBadge would seem to be the [[WikiCategory]]. ==Templates on Wikipedia as a form of WikiBadge== The [[Templates]] used on Wikipedia seem to correspond to what was originally denoted by the term WikiBadge. Many Templates are more than simple tags, since they can provide significant information on the context. [[Category:Wiki Concepts]]
